Construction has officially begun on the much anticipated Federal Taphouse restaurant in downtown Lancaster, and the restaurant’s reputation precedes it. The original bar in Harrisburg, which boasts over 100 beers on tap and a menu of gourmet, wood-fired pizzas and live music, generated a great deal of buzz by bringing much-needed improvement to Harrisburg’s languishing “restaurant row.”
The city of Lancaster, by comparison, certainly does not suffer from any lack of fine eating establishments. The Federal Taphouse here will compliment a thriving downtown restaurant scene and add its impressive bar of 101 taps representing diverse breweries and craft ales. One reviewer referred to this wryly as “tyranny of choice,” yet a quick review of eating establishments around town reveals that choice in fine dining is not something Lancaster city dwellers fear. People here eagerly await this newest addition to their growing bar and restaurant scene- and they are thirsty!
Socius construction is working under Wohlsen at the Lancaster location on many details of the interior such as the trim work (think hostess station and backbar) and that most beautiful and alluring detail of all- the 101-tap bar. The restaurant is slated for a projected finish by the end of June.
